Pictured above is Steve Green with his Tornado Attack vehicle, which he used to be the first to go inside of a tornado as a hunter for observation. Green’s expedition received major news coverage across the nation and Green has over 1 million followers on social media.
I am Steve Green, a former stock car driver and entrepreneur from Canton, Ohio.
Using my NASCAR building knowledge, I created a vehicle that could go inside of a tornado. I called it the Tornado Attack.
I was the first tornado hunter to purposely go inside of a tornado for observation.
As a tornado hunter, I also observed tornadoes close up. I also observed houses being destroyed by tornadoes and helped rescue survivors afterwards.
I will now provide you with the knowledge that could save your life if you encounter a tornado. From my experience as a tornado hunter and going inside a tornado, I will provide you with what I would do to survive a tornado. I will tell you how to survive a tornado in many different situations.
These situations include: if you are in a house with a basement, in a house without a basement, in a trailer, in a commercial building, in a car, SUV, small truck, large truck, motorcycle and many more.
How to Survive a Tornado
by Steve Green
From my experience as a tornado hunter, observing them up close, going inside of a tornado and observing houses destroyed and rescuing people afterwards, this is what I would do in order to survive a tornado. This information can save your life.
Be Prepared
When the weather service predicts a tornado on a certain day, make sure that you are in the safest place possible on that day.
Go to the weather.gov/ddc/chaser for the 5-day prediction for potential tornadoes. They have storm chaser info.
In your residence, have these items readily available: a hand crank or any weather radio, a first aid kit, any type of helmet such as football or bicycle, crank flashlights, and a supply of water.
Build a storm shelter. They usually cost around $5000 and up and will likely save your life.
Warning Signs of a Tornado
Other than alerts from the National Weather Service there are several warning signs of a tornado:
Dark or greenish sky, large hail, a loud roaring sound like a freight train, a low rotating cloud or funnel and flying debris.
Get to the Safest Place Immediately
A basement or storm cellar is the safest place to go in the event of a tornado. If you don’t have a basement go to an interior room on the lowest floor with no windows such as a bathroom, closet or hallway.
If possible, get under something sturdy for protection such as a workbench or heavy table. Cover your head and neck with your arms, a mattress, blankets or a helmet.
In general go to the lowest level floor, interior room and away from windows.
Here is what to do in specific situations
In a House with a Basement
Go to the southwest corner of the basement, under a staircase or in the smallest room in the basement without a window. That’s also where you should store your emergency kit.
In a House with no Basement
Go to an interior room on the lowest floor with no windows such as a bathroom, closet or hallway.
In a Trailer or at a Trailer Park
Most trailer parks or campgrounds have a storm cellar or pavilion. If not, go to the lowest place or smallest room you can find.
In an RV or a Camper at a Campground
If you can’t find a storm cellar or pavilion, go to the lowest place or smallest room you can find.
In a Car, SUV, or Small Truck in a Urban Area or Freeway
If you can, find a concrete or brick building go into it. If not, drive your vehicle to the lowest area and do not turn off the ignition. If you do not turn off the ignition and a tornado comes through, all airbags, including side airbags, will deploy. Make sure you fasten your seatbelt.
In a Car, SUV, or Small Truck in a Rural Area or Freeway
Drive your vehicle to the lowest area you can find and do not turn off the ignition. If you don’t turn off the ignition and a tornado comes through it will deploy all airbags.
In a Motor Home in an Urban Area
Park as close as possible to a concrete or brick building facing away from the tornado.
In a Motor Home in a Rural Area or on a Freeway
Get out of the vehicle, get as far away as possible from it and lay in a ditch or culvert.
In a Large Truck in an Urban Area
Get out of the vehicle and get as far away as possible from it into the center or lower level of a building.
In a Large Truck in a Rural Area
Get out of the vehicle and get as far away as possible from it and lay in a ditch or culvert.
On the First Floor or Upper Floor of a Commercial Building
If it’s the lowest floor go to the center of the building. On an upper floor, go to the smallest room (hallway or restroom) in the center of the building.
Outside at a Sporting or Entertainment Event
You will be alerted when lightning is within 15 miles of your location. You will then leave the area and come back 30 minutes after the last lightning strike.
Inside at a Sporting or Entertainment Event
Go to the smallest room as directed by venue personnel.
Outside in an Urban Area
Go inside a building and to the lowest floor and find a center room without windows.
Outside in the Wilderness or a Rural Area
Go to the lowest area possible in a ditch or culvert.
On a Golf Course
Lie down in a sand trap.
After a Tornado
Once the tornado passes watch out for the following:
Downed power lines and broken glass, avoid damaged buildings, check on neighbors to see if they’re safe, follow updates from the local authorities or the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Quick Survival Rule
Basement > Interior Room > Cover Head > Stay Away from Windows
Tornadoes kill on average 80 people a year in the United States. But there is a invisible killer in your home that kills millions of people a year according to a new Federal Government study. I found a way to eliminate this invisible killer.
This invisible killer is indoor air pollution. The Federal Government report says indoor air pollution is 10 times worse than outdoor air pollution.
The Federal Government study shows that indoor air pollution has over 100 toxic pollutants in it. These come from furnaces, stoves, air conditioning condensation, household cleaners, fabrics in carpeting and furniture, germs and viruses from humans, pets and insects and many other sources.
The Federal Government has linked indoor air pollution to major diseases such as cardiovascular disease, lung cancer, other forms of cancer, brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and much more. And the indoor air pollution in your car is even worse.
The Federal Government studies show that if you are having serious health problems there’s a good chance that it is being caused by indoor air pollution.
Through my research I have found the best device that eliminates 99.9% of this toxic air pollution. It would eliminate it in your home, car, truck, RV and boat.
