Frequently Asked Questions

My heater is making clicking noises. Is that normal?

Yes.

As the heater warms up and cools down, internal metal components naturally expand and contract. This can produce occasional clicking sounds and is considered normal operation.

Grinding, scraping, or electrical buzzing sounds are not normal and should be inspected.

The display says "Replace UV Bulb." Does my heater need service?

Probably not.

The GEN2 is designed to accept an optional Air Purification Upgrade Kit, but that kit is not included with the heater.

If the Purifier button is pressed without the optional kit installed, the heater may display a "Replace UV Bulb" message. Simply press the Purifier button again to clear the message.

Why does my heater have a slight burning smell when it's new?

A light odor during the first few hours of operation is normal.

This is caused by manufacturing residues burning off during initial use and should disappear quickly.

If you notice a persistent electrical smell, discontinue use and contact Customer Service.

Can I plug the GEN2 into an extension cord or power strip?

For best performance and safety, plug the heater directly into a grounded wall outlet.

Power strips are not recommended.

If an extension cord must be used, it should be a heavy-duty cord rated for at least 1,500 watts.

Why doesn't my heater seem to heat as well as it used to?

In most cases, the filter simply needs cleaning.

Reduced airflow caused by dust buildup can lower heating performance.

After cleaning the filter, most customers notice normal heat output returns.

How often should I clean the filter?

Inspect the washable lifetime filter at least once a month.

Homes with pets, smokers, heavy dust, or seasonal allergens may require more frequent cleaning.

A dirty filter is the most common reason for reduced heat output.

Why does the fan keep running after the heat shuts off?

The fan may continue running briefly after the heating element turns off.

This helps cool internal components and extends the life of the heater. It's completely normal.

Why does the heater turn itself off and then back on?

This is normal.

Like your home's furnace, the GEN2 automatically cycles on and off to maintain your selected temperature. Once the room cools slightly, it will begin heating again.

Why does my display show numbers instead of the temperature?

Your heater has three display modes:

  • Fahrenheit (°F)
  • Celsius (°C)
  • Number View (1–15)

Number View is simply an alternate temperature scale—it does not indicate a problem.

To switch displays:

  1. Hold the Quiet button for about 3 seconds.
  2. Press the Timer button until your preferred display appears.
  3. Press Quiet again to save the setting.
Why isn't my GEN2 producing heat?

If the fan is running but you're not feeling heat:

  • Make sure the thermostat is set higher than the current room temperature (try 90°F for testing).
  • Verify the air filter is clean.
  • Ensure nothing is blocking the air intake or exhaust.
  • The heater may simply have reached the selected temperature and is waiting to cycle back on.

If the problem continues after these checks, contact Customer Service for additional troubleshooting.
