Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my GEN70 turn on?

First, make sure the rear master power switch is turned ON. The top power button will not operate unless the rear switch is on. Also verify the unit is plugged directly into a working 120V wall outlet and that the outlet has power. If the heater still won't turn on, contact Customer Service for assistance.

Why isn't my GEN70 producing heat?

If the blue indicator light is on, the unit is in Fan Mode and will not produce heat. Press the Heat button to switch to either Low Heat (450W) or High Heat (950W). Also remember that the GEN70 is designed for personal heating, so you'll get the best results when you're sitting nearby.

Why does the fan keep running after I turn the heater off?

This is normal. After you turn the heater off, the fan continues to run for about 20 seconds to cool the internal heating element. This helps protect the heater and extend its service life.

Why does my heater seem to produce only a small amount of heat?

The GEN70 is designed as a personal comfort heater, not a whole-room heater. For the best performance, use the High Heat setting and place the heater within a few feet of where you're sitting. Be sure nothing is blocking the front or rear airflow.

Why don't the buttons seem to work?

The GEN70 uses light-touch electronic controls rather than mechanical push buttons. Simply touch the control lightly with your fingertip. If the controls still don't respond, verify the rear master power switch is turned on.

My heater has a slight odor when I first use it. Is that normal?

Yes. A slight odor during the first few uses is normal as the manufacturing coatings on the heating element burn off. This should disappear quickly. If you notice a persistent electrical smell or smoke, unplug the heater immediately and contact Customer Service.

Why did my heater shut off by itself?

The GEN70 includes built-in overheat protection. If airflow becomes blocked or the rear air intake doesn't have enough clearance, the heater may automatically shut down. Turn the unit off, unplug it, remove any obstructions, allow it to cool, and then restart it. Always maintain at least 4 inches of clearance behind the heater.

How do I clean and maintain my GEN70?

Turn the rear power switch off and unplug the heater before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent if needed. Do not spray water into the heater or use harsh cleaners. Keeping the air intake free of dust and obstructions will help maintain peak performance.

Can I plug the GEN70 into a power strip or extension cord?

For best performance and safety, plug the GEN70 directly into a grounded 120-volt wall outlet. If an extension cord must be used, it should be a properly rated heavy-duty cord suitable for the heater's electrical load.
