Unlike ordinary refrigerator deodorizers that primarily absorb smells, Thunderstorm® uses ozone and negative-ion technology to help break down food-ripening gases and improve the air inside your refrigerator. As fruits and vegetables ripen, they naturally release gases such as ethylene that can accelerate aging and spoilage. Thunderstorm® helps break down these gases while reducing airborne impurities and unwanted odors, helping your groceries stay fresh longer and potentially reducing food waste.
Tested to Help Preserve Food Freshness
In a 9-day comparative experiment, strawberries stored with an ozone air purifier showed no visible mold through Day 7 and only slight mold by Day 9. Strawberries stored without the purifier developed visible mold by Day 5 and were almost completely rotted by Day 9. The experiment was performed in a controlled enclosure at room temperature; results in individual refrigerators may vary.
Separate laboratory testing reported reductions of up to 99.96% of E. coli, 99.92% of Staph, 99.92% of Listeria, and 95.5% of ammonia under test conditions. These results demonstrate the potential of the purification technology to help reduce bacteria and odors.
